Local Toongabbie church here to make a difference
Grace worship centre is a local Toongabbie church that loves to give its community a good old Aussie barbecue.
The interesting thing is that they are very multicultural just like Toongabbie, but who doesn’t like a snag on the barbie. They have built a strong multicultural membership where people from diverse cultures, backgrounds and socio-economic statuses are welcome.
The BBQ in Portico Park is a volunteer program dedicated to positively impacting the local communities. They like to emphasises the importance of giving, and let’s be honest who doesn’t like a free feed? They also offer assistance to selected non-profit organizations on a regular basis.
Creating a positive community
Pastor Aaron said “The barbecue is an opportunity to show their passion for serving the Toongabbie/Girraween community by giving people a point of contact, and a respite for those members of the community who are burdened and or lonely by offering them a free lunch and someone to talk to.“
“Our goal is to give both time and resources, in hopes of making the world around us a better place to live and work. Outreach BBQ believes that by giving back, you can have a lasting, positive impact on your community.” Said Pastor Aaron.
A church that is trying to keep mischievous youth off Toongabbie streets
Pastor Aaron said “He hopes to reach out to the youth in and around Toongabbie giving them a place on Friday nights to fellowship at our growing youth group. This will impact the Toongabbie community by giving bored youth an outlet instead of vandalizing and other mischief. A cleaner and safer Toongabbie is of great benefit to all.”
His goal with this is to make a difference in the younger generation, help people who are disadvantaged, destitute, giving moral support.
What does this local Toongabbie church do internationally?
I asked Pastor Aaron what is his local community Church doing internationally? He said they are “helping a gypsy community – a life changing project which helps people to run their lives as a better citizen, Helping 35 orphan children in their daily living. Helping 3 poor families in Philippines who has no income to survive.”
It is nice to see a local multicultural community Church doing so much with very little resources in a suburb scattered with 100s of different nationalities and religions. Pastor Aaron is a friendly guy and most of us go and get a sausage off him when we can in between our open homes.
